In villages throughout Europe, these wide mouth glass jars were used for preserving cucumbers and white peppers in vinegar. Put to use at the end of the summer harvest, the clear glass jars enabled the sun to ferment its contents for year-round enjoyment. Our recycled jars are made from broken antique bottles that are melted down and re-blown in their original casts to retain their characteristic appeal. We have taken our original 10-liter mason jar and added a splash of high-gloss purple paint to the bottom. Not only has the color added a contemporary element, it is perfect for displaying flowers and hiding the bottom of the stems.
